About WellStyles
The idea for WellStyles Consulting was born in the late evening in a cubicle at a public radio station. The founder, Laurie Tucker, was working late (again) and thinking about what she could grab for a quick dinner. Of course, she was going to eat her quick dinner at her desk. And, as she thought about how she hadn’t moved from her desk much since 7:00 am, she was scratching her head as she tried to figure out how she was going to squeeze in any type of exercise in the few hours left in the day. She was stressed, tired, and resentful of how life was running her instead of her running her life. Knowing she was not the only person feeling this way, she decided that one day she would create a company dedicated to helping people find balance and wellness in their lives.
Laurie left that job, returned to graduate school and created a company dedicated to connecting wellness with your lifestyle.

Her dedication to making “being healthy” seem like fun instead of like a chore is evident in all of her work. From large-scale events such as health fairs, 5Ks and pedometer challenges to her work with individuals, overall wellness and balance in life is always the goal. This same philosophy also applied when Laurie created and implemented a successful wellness coaching program for a prestigious university.
Laurie holds her masters degree in Health Promotion Management and her bachelors degree in International Studies, both from American University. Her research on the Stages of Change and calcium consumption among college-aged females and males was published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, American Journal of Health Promotion, Journal of American College Health and the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.

Before switching careers to pursue her passion, she worked in politics, international development, public radio and at a hotel in the Grand Teton National Park.
